Modern Clay with a Vintage Twist

Laurie’s work combines handcrafted modern clay with vintage history. Each piece begins with millefiori designs she carefully inlays, fires, and then sets into original vintage cabochons and settings sourced from long-closed jewelry manufacturers.

Many of these mid-century factories — once bustling hubs of creativity — are now apartments, retail spaces, or left abandoned. Laurie has explored these historic sites, finding hidden treasures in forgotten warehouses across New York City, Providence, California, Tennessee, France, Connecticut, and beyond.

Every setting she rescues carries a story, and her durable, vibrant clay is reset with adhesive and glaze to give it new life. Sometimes she uncovers 5 pieces, sometimes 500 — but each creation remains limited, unique, and rooted in history with a modern clay twist.
